Five ways to a Healthy Lifestyle

If you’re doing physical activities and eating healthy food daily, then you’re well on your way to a well balanced lifestyle, but if that is not the case, then you really should change your routine because this might take a toll on your health as you get older.

Our busy lifestyle has changed everything, as we rush from home to school, college, or a job, it is becoming increasingly difficult to find time for our physical activities. Apart from getting less exercise, we often begin choosing unhealthy snacks & food due to the convenience and are spending more and more time using cell phones and watching entertainment devices.

However, these choices are really dangerous for our health and our childrens’ – both now and in the future. That is why it is so important to take steps now to change these routines.

It takes around 21 days to make a habit and 90 days to make it a life style. Here are five ways for you and your family to get started!

How to Lead to a Healthy Lifestyle

1. Get Some Exercise Every Day

  • You need regular exercise every day because it is essential for healthy growth, development, and the well-being of your children.
  • You should aim to spend around 60 minutes in the gym or doing some kind of physical activity. Make yourself “huff and puff” when you do an exercise to break your daily limits.
  • Try to include activities which strengthen your muscles and bones at least 3 days a week.  Weight resistance activities, whether in the gym or outside, can be very effective in preventing muscle mass and bone loss.
  • Remember that you are a role model for your children! Having a positive attitude about exercise will help them establish a healthy lifestyle as well.  Choose activities that are not only exercise but are fun. These can be done with family or friends.  Many outdoor activities such as hiking, kayaking, and biking are great ways to spend time together and get in that daily dose of exercise.

2. Choose Water Instead

Water is essential for every living thing, and you can see and feel the benefits of hydration in your body, skin and simply the way you feel. The regular person will need at least 32 ounces of water daily for proper hydration. This will keep your skin looking great and your body at optimum hydration level. If you consume caffeine or sugar, you will need more water as this dehydrates your body and you will feel the effects if not replenished.

  • Water is the best way to quench your thirst, and considering juice or most other sports or energy drinks have some sugar added, pick up that water instead!
  • Choose reduced or skim milk to reduce your fat intake.
  • Give your kids whole fruit to eat instead of milkshakes or juices that have a lot of sugar.

3. Eat Fruits and Vegetables

People nowadays consider eating fast foods over vegetables and milkshakes over fruits. But this thing needs to be stopped because Fast Foods and a lot of sugar aren’t good for your heart health. Follow the steps given below in order to start eating fruits and vegetables.

  • You must eat fruits and vegetables every day because it boosts your growth and mental development and can reduce the risk of many diseases.
  • Try to eat vegetables at lunch and fruits in the evening instead of tea or coffee

4. Get Active and Switch Off the Screens

Watching TV and spending your time on social media, scrolling on social accounts, news feed or video games isn’t healthy for your eyes or mental health. Listed below are some suggestions  to help you get started towards a more robust, healthy and well-balanced life.

  • Go for a walk and talk to your family members instead of watching TV and using mobile phones.  Limit your cell phone activity when you are with your family-remember, they are watching!
  • Plan some indoor and outdoor activities; for instance, play charades, frisbee or tennis (yes, table tennis, counts!) and skating are some great ways to get started.

5. Limit the Amount of Unhealthy Snacks and Find Healthier Alternatives

  • Healthy snacks can help both you and your children to meet the daily recommended dose of vitamins and nutrients.  These are essential for proper growth and development.  Avoid snacks which have high sugar and saturated fats, especially before bedtime because they can lead you to an excessive body weight.
  • Get your children involved!  Find an activity that they enjoy.  This could be indoor or outdoor and it could consist of trial and error.  Some activities are more team oriented such as baseball, or hockey while others might enjoy more individualized sports such as karate, running or gymnastics.

Final Words

Daily exercise and a well balanced diet is essential to living a healthy life.  This includes reducing the intake of processed foods, refined grains and choosing fresh, natural foods including fruits and vegetables as well as protein and fish.  This is the formula to living YOUR BEST LIFE!
