How to Look Younger without Looking Foolish

When it comes to how to look younger, there is a right way to do it, and a wrong way. When you get it right, you come off as confident, vibrant and sexy. When you don’t get it right you have people snickering as you pass by.

The first thing many people do when they want to take a few years off their appearance is to check out their high school yearbook to see how cool they looked when their age matched how they felt. What worked back then should work now, right?

Ummm…maybe not. Slowly put down that yearbook and back away. You are about to discover how to look younger without having to travel back in time.

How’s Your Attitude?

Looking young has a lot to do with attitude. Take a really good look at someone in their 20’s or 30’s. Typically, they laugh a lot, socialize, have a more carefree attitude, and are not jaded by challenges life can throw our way. It’s not that they are irresponsible. In fact, many in this age bracket are taking on educational and career in order to prove themselves. Remember, at this age they often have the problem of not being taken seriously because they are young.

The difference is they take on their challenges with zest. They are not afraid to fail and are willing to take calculated risks. When they make mistakes, they often view them as learning opportunities rather than failures. Additionally, they are willing to move on to a better opportunity if the current one doesn’t seem like the right fit.

So, the first step for how to look younger without looking foolish is to adjust your attitude.

Dress to Impress (not Entertain)

The next step is to match your attitude with your appearance. There is a trick to dressing younger. It need to look natural and you want to feel comfortable in what you choose. You don’t want it to seem you are trying too hard. You don’t want to dress like your grandma, unless she’s a hot mama, and you don’t want to dress like your teenager.

For women, this means bare midriffs may be out unless you are in a beach or pool setting and have the abs for it. For guys, this means keeping your pants hitched at the waist and avoid letting them sag.

Dress with clothes that flatter your figure…and fit. Don’t believe for a moment the secret for looking younger includes wearing clothes that are too tight. This really just shows that you purchased the wrong size.

Don’t be afraid of color, but don’t overdo it. A good rule of thumb is if you see a tween wearing the same outfit you are wearing, you might need to class it up a little.

You can look younger and still express the confidence of your age. This is achieved partly through your overall outlook which radiates from within, dressing in a manner that flatters your figure, and smiling frequently.
