Is the Smart Fat Book Worth Buying?
As the name of the book suggests, this isn’t just a regular diet book, but instead, it aims to help fight back against one of the most persistent health myths out there. For years people have assumed that fats are the enemy, that they shouldn’t eat fats, that fats are bad for their heart health. This is why “fat-free” alternatives to certain foods have become so popular. The problem is that this is a massive misunderstanding, which this book corrects.
The main thrust of this book is that there are lots of good fats out there that you should be consuming as part of your diet. We don’t want to go into too much detail, as that is better left for you to discover by reading the book, but we will say that the authors identify several foods that contain healthy fats (the avocado on the front is a good example of the kinds of healthy foods that they recommend). The authors recommend incorporating these healthy foods into your diet.
Now that the main argument of the book has been covered, let’s move onto the more technical aspects of the book, how does it hold up? Well, the book is very well-written. It is neatly divided into thematically similar parts, each of which has about 3 chapters.
The book is fun to read and doesn’t bore you to death with an endless amount of facts. At the same time, the authors are a respected doctor and health researcher, so you know that the information in the book is credible.
